Pet boarding vs pet sitting: how to choose

The best option depends on your pet’s stress levels, medical needs and your budget. Ask clear questions before you hand over keys or drop-off paperwork.

Boarding can suit

Dogs that enjoy playgroups, or pets that need overnight supervision you cannot arrange at home. Tour the facility, ask about vaccination rules, group sizes and how they handle emergencies.

Sitting / drop-ins can suit

Cats and anxious dogs that cope better in their own territory. Confirm visit length, feeding instructions, medication handling and what happens if a flight is delayed.

Questions worth asking anyone

  1. Are you insured, and what does that cover?
  2. How do I reach you during the booking, and who is the backup?
  3. What is the plan for vomiting, escape or a overnight vet trip?
  4. Can I see recent reviews or references from local pet owners?
